Building Societies

Nationwide

New Oxford House, 118-120 Old Christchurch Rd, Bournemouth BH1 1NA, UK – 0800 554 0320

This branch could do with attending to the air conditioning, if it has any. Staffed by lot of older people, mainly women. Could do with a staff focussed health regime. Air quality: dingy, stuffy. Maybe employ a Building Surveyor and a employee health specialist to encourage interest in Nationwide as a modern and progressive business. Usually busy, long queues. I think the whole branch needs a slight overhaul. Nice pleasant staff. Strange smell as soon as entering. I heard they clean the composite stone floor with bees wax. Not good. Organic matter decays producing bad odours. Maybe get some male staff for a balance. Women though good at customer relations and data entry are often not too good at technical and manual stuff. Overall impression: nice, friendly and helpful staff but the ambience is a bit jaded/whiffy/outdated. I think the branch was last modernised in mid to early 1990's.

Rather hot inside during the summer but the staff are very prompt with any enquiries.

Nationwide

448 Wimborne Rd, Bournemouth BH9 2HB, UK – 0800 554 1977

Nationwide

17 Canford Cliffs Rd, Poole BH13 7LE, UK – 0800 554 1107

Its a branch for banking. Helpful staff behind the counter

I visited branch today with my husband as I had opened an account online and apparently needed to prove identity in branch. The branch manager could not have been more helpful and was able to open the account there and then for us and we left the branch with all the account information we needed.

Dental Surgeries

Bournemouth Dental Practice, Old Christchurch Road

27 Old Christchurch Rd, Bournemouth BH1 1DS, UK – 01202 553919

I have been a patient of Doctor Yazdani's for several years and I have to say that the service is fantastic. So much so that even after moving away from the area I kept her as my dentist. I cannot fault her professionalism and she always shows great care towards me and my teeth. All of the staff I also have met are professional and deliver a great level of customer service. Easily the best dentist I have had.

I am so pleased with my visit to this dentist. The reception team are lovely and always welcomed me with a smile. The dentist and her nurse are very good explaining and keep you at ease. You really feel you are being catered for. Couldn't fault it. Thank you to all the team.

Queens Park Dental Team

1 Queens Park Gardens, Bournemouth BH8 9BN, UK – 01202 303322

Thank you for your services! Very professional with top tech and wonderful team! I really have to do a bit of confession here - used to be one of them foreigners waiting for ages to go back to my country for treatments. I'd never do this again and I encourage anyone that is still doing a similar mistake to think again. It took me a long time, but now that I've had experienced the high level of service here, I'd never waste time on dentist visits while visiting the natal place. Thank you once again !

Very professional and impressive dental surgery with lovely people. I had neglected my teeth for many years so it was with some trepidation that I attended my first consultation and treatment. I need not have worried, Hannah and her team put my mind to rest and sorted out what needed to be done efficiently and swiftly. Many thanks to Hannah, Nicole and Clare for sorting me out, my teeth feel so clean and I will heed your advice on caring for them from now on!

Providence Practice

12 Walpole Rd, Bournemouth BH1 4HA, UK – 01202 395195

Reception staff has changed fortunately, more respectful and real caring service. Easily to get appointments. GP 's great.

Any doctors can be busy at certain times, but whenever I've had an emergency they have gone out of their way to help myself and my children, my son had a cut on his head that split open again slightly, there was 20 minutes between me calling and my son seeing a doctor, that's good practice if you ask me xxx

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital

67 Lansdowne Rd, Bournemouth BH1 1RW, UK – 01202 291866

Friendly and efficient staff from receptionists to catering to nurses. That coupled with calm and professional attitude of consultant and his theatre team made the experience quite enjoyable. Obviously the operation being a success added to that.

To all the Staff at the Nuffield Apologies for the time lapse of this review I've been busy healing.      Firstly a massive thank you to all concerned with my care and treatment during my brief stay at your hospital.  Thank you especially to Doctor Carter, who in the short time we chatted before the op allayed any doubts or worries that I might have had and more importantly for the beautiful job done, many thanks sir.      It's two weeks tomorrow that I had my op and the healing process is going very well. I was a very fortunate man indeed to be treated and looked after so well at the Nuffield, so once again thanks to you all. David Lamb

Find Local Churches & Places of Worship

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

30B Wimborne Rd, Bournemouth BH2 6NU, UK – 01202 292564

I have been a member of the Church ofJesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon) since late 1963. I was working in in a shop in Kinson, an area of Bournemouth at that time. Two LDS missionaries had come into the shop to buy something and had a conversation with the shop assistant who was an Australian. The upshot of this was they left a book called Meet the Mormons with her.. She was not really interested in reading it . I worked in the workshop above the shop and on occasion it was necessary for me to go in the shop itself to get something or other. On this occasion she asked me to give this book to a lady in an upstairs office, which I did. She also wasn't interested in looking at it so I left it on my work bench and carried on with my work Lunch time came around so I sat down to eat my sandwiches and as I had nothing else to do I started to read the Book. I got really interested in it and asked the Australian girl if I could take it home with me to finish reading it. She agreed and I took it home and finished it. About ten days later she contacted me and said that there were two Americans in the shop who wished to speak to me. I went down and spoke to them and we conversed about the book and what I thought of it.. The rest is history, Yes I did eventually join their church and I have been a member for over fifty years now. My wife and I go regularly to Church nearly every Sunday health permitting. The views of the Bournemouth Chapel you see here are lovely . The building consistent of Chapel for worship, a cultural hall , a kitchen, classrooms for. Sunday school and other meetings, toilets, a library, a walk in font for baptisms and rooms to change in. A large car park and at least two offices. Most Latter Day Saint Chapel's have these facilities? I accidentally came across this site which has asked me to is rate and review it. So I am giving it ten out of ten. And my review you have just read. Just a little bit more. There are other Chapels within our area. Poole, Christchurch, Weymouth,, Jersey, Yeovil, Salisbury

This is a Christian Church. Everybody is welcome.

This church has become my home and my family. Everybody is so welcoming and it is run in the true essence of Christ, love and family. Everybody is truly welcome here with no judgement what so ever, whoever you are come and join us and revolutionize your life!

Here to see "Wardrobes and Rings" a play about CSLewis and JRRTolkien. The hall is big and a little cold but the acoustics are good. Similarly the room is a little cold but the welcome was warm. Accessibility is good. Parking reasonably close.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Bournemouth

The Cliff Top Restaurant

93 St Michael's Rd, Bournemouth BH2 5DS, UK – 01202 554665

We were In Bournemouth for the weekend , booked table online got confirmation email which said look forward to seeing you a nice personal touch. Went for Sunday lunch. Food was superb as was the service. Excellent value for money. Will definitely go back.

Wonderful place! Food was amazing and beautifully presented. Cocktails were lush and the staff friendly but professional. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone x

NEO Restaurant

Exeter Rd, Bournemouth BH2 5AH, UK – 01202 203610

Good location. Nice cocktails. Nice staff. However..... food was mediocre. Over cooked steak. Had to ask for a proper steak knife. Saw others struggling to cut through theirs too. Overpriced for what you get.

This place was a bit of a disappointment. The food was extortionate for what they served (definitely a case of paying for the location) and the service was very haphazard - there was no waiter allocated to our table which meant that we were forgotten for long periods of time - I had to sit without a drink for over half an hour on my birthday :-( one of the waiters also spilled some of our wine on the table and over my partner's sunglasses, but all we got was a very quiet mumbled apology and we were left to clean it up ourselves. I'm afraid I wouldn't go back, there are far too many other nice places to eat in Bournemouth.

Arbor Restaurant

Arbor Restaurant, The Green House Hotel, 4 Grove Road, Bournemouth BH1 3AX, UK – 01202 498900

Lovely, quiet restaurant within a hotel. Adventurous menu catering for gluten free but not dairy free. The staff work with you within the limits of the menu. Presentation cool and you are not rushed. Journey at your own pace. Well placed for a good walk along East Cliff, with a free and sizeable car park. The jelly and ice cream dessert is a wonderful take on a family favourite.

Another excellent meal in the Arbor's beautiful dining room. The restaurant has a varied menu including British favourites with a twist; beef in red wine with dumplings. Prices are high, but reflect the quality of the food and service.Beetroot and dill soup sounds odd; but it was outstanding and appropriate for a cold March night. This is a sedate restaurant with a varied clientele; business men; couples and three ladies (us). The Arbor Restaurant is in the boutique, Eco hotel: The Green House.

Nursery and Preschools

West Cliff Pre-School

W Cliff Rd, Bournemouth BH4 8BE, UK – 07825 215071

An absolutely brilliant preschool. Our daughter is nearly 4, and has been going since she was 2. She has blossomed into a confident child, and I truly believe this is due to the preschool. She was so shy when she started, but since going she has developed a close group of friends and is learning new things everyday. It's a wonderful preschool, and the members of staff are kind, helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend this preschool, it's been the best thing for our daughter.

Anyone looking for a wonderful place to leave their child look no further. My first son came here for 2 years and loved it. My second is about to move onto school after 2 more lovely years at the preschool. The staff are very caring, fun, genuine people and really treat every child as an individual. Both my boys have been nurtured, cared for and well prepared to make the big step of starting school. Can't thank these lovely ladies enough. I'm sure I'll be back with no.3 in another year.

Top Bananas Pre-School

The Life Centre, 713 Wimborne Rd, Bournemouth BH9 2AU, UK – 01202 510899

My little boy went here as his first nursery at 2. I was extremely apprehensive at first but the staff and setting were absolutely fantastic! My little boy loved it immediately and my nerves were settled 🍌 The preschool is a lovely size with fantastic indoor and outdoor activities! Staff are always so willing to help and provide extra support if needed! Uniforms are 1000000% cute as well ❤️ Overall great service great staff and lovely setting!

My daughter has been attending Top Bananas for just over a year. She attends 2 days a week and always comes home smiling and telling me all about her day with her friends. Staff are so friendly and welcoming.. always speak highly of them and would recommend it to anyone looking to place their children in to nursery/pre school.

Leaps & Bounds

27 Bemister Rd, Bournemouth BH9 1LG, UK – 01202 269628

My daughter is due to start school in September, she has been going here since the age of of 2. As a single working parent it was difficult and daunting finding the right childcare . After visiting many, Leaps and Bounds really stood out, they have the perfect balance between home from home and professional nursery. All the staff are lovely caring and very attentive, my little one loves going to nursery and comes home happy everyday. Not only is she confident settled and happy, she is also learning and experiencing so much already. I highly recommend.

Talbot Heath is a wonderful school. Our daughter spent 7 very happy years there and flourished in every way. The school combines high academic standards with the very best in pastoral care. The head teacher and staff are outstanding.

I can’t speak highly enough of the school and how it has supported my daughter during her time at the junior school. Talbot Heath provides a nurturing environment and exceptional support to pupils of all abilities ensuring they reach their individual potential. All the staff from the head of school, teachers, teaching assistants and support staff go the extra mile everyday to provide a great learning environment. Thankyou

St. Martin's School

15 Stoke Wood Rd, Bournemouth BH3 7NA, UK – 01202 292011

Fantastic! We are so pleased that we found this school for our children. It has a lovely family atmosphere. The head teacher and staff are so enthusiastic, hard working and approachable. The small class sizes ensure plenty of individual attention and we are very happy with the curriculum and with all aspects of the school. They have their own large sports field behind the building, and are also very close to the Stokewood Sports Centre where they have swimming and gym lessons each week. Highly recommended!

Woo St Martin's! I went here and have such fond and happy memories. It got my friends and I through the 11+ and into BSG/BS and set me up very well for secondary school as I was ahead of most of the kids there in Year 7. I also remember it being a small school with a happy family vibe where no bullying took place. I loved the sports days and school trips in particular. I am still friends with some of my class today and if I still live in Bournemouth when I have my own children, St Martin's would genuinely be where I would send them.
